Escape: Psycho Circus Festival 2017: An Unbelievable Experience

First off let me just say what an amazing experience! Escape: Psycho Circus Festival 2017 was my very first EDM festival and it was truly a remarkable experience. From the crowd’s energy, amazing costumes and killer performances, Escape 2017 is definitely one for the books!

Located in San Bernardino, CA for its 7th year, the weather was extremely hot during the day, but when the sun disappeared and the night sky begun to surround the NOS Event Theater, the air suddenly became chilly filled with screams of joy and terror. This chaos was caused by the annual Escape: Psycho Circus Festival, a music festival that syndicates the nightmare of haunted houses and mazes with some of the top DJs of the world.

The two-day frightening fueled festival at the NOS Event Center brought out amazing performances from some of the best DJs, interactive 3D art installations, and circus amusements. This festival featured over 75 musical acts on four stages with different spooky themes. These four stages presented some of the biggest names in the EDM world including:

Marshmello, Boys Noize (live), Afrojack, Zedd, Tiesto, DJ Snake, and so many more. The fans enjoyed the revolving carousel, contortionists, fortunetellers, and burlesque shows all weekend long.

Once you enter into the festival you are blown away by all of the time and effort that was dedicated to make this festival a jaw dropping experience for EDM fan’s and newcomers. From the beaming lights that surrounded the festival to the intricate detail of each stage that hosted each performer. The iconic Slaughterhouse stage spanned 200 feet wide inside a 450-foot long tent, featuring a reimagined clown’s mouth smiling wickily from ear to ear. The devilish design housed over 700 video tiles, 375 lights, and 24 lasers, bringing performances to life from DJ Snake, Marshmello, Tiësto and REZZ. The Ghouls’ Graveyard dedicated Friday night to the brand-favorite Bassrush Massive, with killer sets from Datsik, Flosstradamus and Nero, followed by big hitters on Saturday like NGHTMRE, Zedd, and Eric Prydz.

Moreover, The Chopping Block stage sat at the center of the festival, drawing fans into its massive circus tent with hardstyle aficionados curated by Basscon, and genre-crossover acts hosted by Audiotistic. Mike WiLL Made-It who surprised fans with a special guest performance by Rae Sreummund during their set, and Boys Noize closed out the show with an exceptional live performance. Factory 93 took over the Cannibals’ Tea Party stage in true underground fashion with minimal vibes, a black disco diamond, and the best in house music from Green Velvet, Jamie Jones, and Nicole Moudaber.

In between stages and mazes, I had the opportunity to try out a few amazing treats, like gourmet ice cream sandwiches from Afters Ice Cream and amazing Korean fusion tacos from Kogi BBQ… I mean give a girl a break it was my cheat day! After indulging, I had the pleasure of hanging out at the VIP viewing deck located at the Slaughterhouse stage. Inside that area, I was able to catch my breath and enjoy the recreation of iconic sets from Stranger Things, The Shining, and Psycho.
Overall, Escape: Psycho Circus Festival 2017 was an absolute blast! It was definitely an experience that I will never forget. Not only were the performances amazing, and the costumes looked straight out of a horror film, but the décor of the festival was mind blowing. Thank you to everyone at Insomniac Press for the ultimate experience! Job well done and I look forward to attending next year!
