Leave gender roles out of the equation and Sydney Blu serves CONFIDENCE all day long! Canadian artist, Sydney gives listeners fragmented background vocals in her latest release, “Mind Games” under Hot Since 82’s label, Knee Deep In Sound.
With Feminism on the rise, we love to see women who carry themselves with a great deal of poise, self-assurance and confidence! The music industry is predominantly made up of males and Sydney is surely making her mark. Our hopes are that the more artist like her come on the scene; and begin the shift in music.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?
That’s a tough one. My career is full of little accomplishments. I think writing my album was a big one as it took me several years but I’d say my career has been full of small accomplishments leading up to one big victory!
How did you know you wanted to become an entertainer?
It’s intuition. I knew it growing up , I was always performing in one way or another around music or the arts.
In a male dominated industry, is it difficult at times to be respected or seen as an equal?
Yes, but I don’t really pay attention to it, I just work with people who love the same stuff I do and treat me with respect. I wish the labels signed more female producers, as I think some of them are a bit sexist but that’s my only real complaint.
Was there a pivotal moment where you realized you had achieved a certain level of success?
When I was able to start touring internationally after I had a big hit. It allowed me to get out of the city I was living in.
How does your style differ than other women Djs?
My style as an artist represents me as Sydney Blu …it has nothing to do with the fact that I am a female.
Is there anyone you would love to work with, or have worked with anyone who’s made a lasting impact on you?
Well I’m happy to be releasing music on Hot Since 82’s label. I’d love to work with him in the future 🙂
What advice can you give to young women who want to someday follow in your path?
Work as hard as you can, learning all aspects of the industry and don’t complain.
