Attract Magazine Editors Express What They’re Most Thankful For + Their Outlook for 2019

2018 was an interesting year (to say the least) from politics to pop culture to everyday life, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t experiences to be grateful for this year. At Attract Magazine we’re all about focusing on the positive as much as possible and reminding ourselves that life is short. Our editors chimed in on what they’re most thankful for in 2018 and what quote they plan to live by in 2019.

As I look back and reflect on the year that I’ve had I truly believe that I’m living my best life. Yes, I know that phrase has been overused, but I believe it…and it all started with saying “yes” to new opportunities in life. I’ve hit many of the goals I planned this year and I’m preparing for newer, more exciting goals in 2019. I’ve been fortunate to have a great support system of my partner Blake, my parents, friends, and family. That support system is what drives me to get excited about 2019.

Quote for 2019:

A vision without action is merely a dream. Action without a vision is a waste of time. A vision with action can change your life.

Joel Barker

Every December I make a list of all the things I hope to accomplish in the year to come. This year as I was making my list, I realized that the reason I haven’t checked off many items in my life is not because I lack passion or drive. The simple fact is I’ve always had wonderful ideas, but they have been just that, ideas. No actual planning has happened and I finally had my “aha” moment as Oprah would say. How was I going to make sure I hit my monthly goals? Planning is absolutely necessary when trying to accomplish something. You have to be precise and specific about your dreams in order to see them come to fruition.

Quote for 2019:

Do the right thing, even when other people think it may not be.

Oprah Winfrey

New York City is an easy place to become a bitter and rude person because of how much sh*t you deal with on a daily basis. But, I’ve realized I just don’t have the mental space for it anymore, so 2019 is the year to free myself. I want to free myself from any energy, thoughts, and/or people that just don’t serve me anymore. It’s time to focus on the good and reconnect with myself and my purpose.

I’m thankful for the many opportunities I’ve had to travel the world this year, and especially thankful to have shared many of those memories with family and friends.

Quote for 2019:

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

Audrey Hepburn

These words embody the type of energy I want to go into the New Year with; I want to have a positive outlook, see the good in others, and have confidence that everything happens for a reason.

Over the last year I have found myself being grateful for many things, some being stuff that I took for granted on a daily basis, such as my health, access to education or my family. The thing I would say I’m most grateful for in 2018 was having an incredible partner in life. She has shown me that my potential is endless as long as I stay focused and manifest my goals. Every morning that I wake up next to her, I think to myself how lucky I am to have a partner who truly has my back. Life is really hard but having her makes it a little easier. She is by far the thing I am most grateful for in 2018.

Quote for 2019:

If you’re scared to take chances, you’ll never find the answers.

Nas

Going into 2019 I have a lot of change that I plan to make in my life and especially my career. As rapper Nas once said, “If you’re scared to take chances, you’ll never find the answer.” I plan to go into 2019, gambling on myself. I want to step outside of my everyday norm and find what I’m searching for in life and my career.

I’m so thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given and the leaps I took this year.

Quote for 2019:

Say yes, and you’ll figure it out afterwards.

Tina Fey

This quote is exactly how I would describe what I want in the year 2019. Making things happen is all about taking chances, so it’s time to say yes, and I’ll figure out what’s next along the way.

When you speak it into existence and really believe in yourself then nothing will prevent it from happening.
